2 NILL down after the canoeing and baloon popping legs, PCC's away team regrouped for the tough one! The boat race (sometimes called down-downs) calls on will, guts and determination of EVERY member of the team. To date MCC had beaten PCC everytime in this event so it looked bleak for the Zandvlei team.
Undeterred, Ian Traut kicked off with a solid opening gulp keeping up with MCC. Boet Graeme followed and PCC forged ahead to the chants of PCC! PCC! PCC! from the rest of us. Now it was the girls! Angie battled gamely but lost a little ground to a brute of a MCC member who ate the glass as well. Game on! Pippa surprised all of us (and herself) with an effortless effort but we were still behind! Then in rolled the BIG GUNS! Dr Gary had no time for witty comments and flew into his leg and restored a slight lead; Dave Hitchcock put the whole issue to bed with a performance that might never again be repeated on this planet leaving me to slowly sip my beer to victory with HEAPS of time to spare! MCC 2 PCC 1

Pool was next and once again PCC ruled! PCC have not lost yet on this table in the 3 years of the competition. Best of 3 and it was all over in 2 when RK slapped the white AND black balls into two different pockets after immense pressure from the Trauts et al: MCC 2 PCC 2
Dave Hitchcock meanwhile, with the Angie and Pippa (and a little help from yours truly) got the darts point, winning the decider on a double 2. Pure class and PCC were now ahead. MCC 2 PCC 3
And you know Barcelona won! MCC 2 PCC 4.
Thank you Rich and MCC for hosting this leg of the event. As usual you made us EXTREMELY welcome - so welcome in fact, that the entire PCC team was still there at 11:30pm! We look forward to resuming "hostilities" at Zandvlei on Tuesday 11th August.
