| ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING TO BE HELD AT THE CLUB HOUSE, ZANDVLEI TUESDAY 9th MARCH 2010 AT 20HOO The Annual General Meeting of your club, Peninsula Canoe Club, has been scheduled for 9th March, after the first time-trial of the new season (approximately 19h30 for those not paddling) In recent years, the prevailing view seems to be that one does not attend an AGM because you may end up committing to perform some or other task for the club. “Keep your head down and others will carry the load for you” seems to be the motto. The club can only be as successful as the members allow it to be! According to the club’s own rules, no decisions can be made about the ongoing functioning of the club without a quorum of members being present. We did not have a quorum at the previous AGM! Therefore, as a member of PCC, if there is only one event that you should attend on the club’s calendar, it is the AGM. It is the intention of the club and the committee, to maintain an institution that will promote the sport of paddling and to make it an enriching activity for everyone who chooses to belong. Across the range of paddling abilities, from the top athletes who seek international level participation across to those who simply want to paddle now and then for the pure enjoyment of it, this club wants to be your home. Everyone has the capacity to offer some sort of contribution to the functioning of the club during the coming season. The club’s committee will endeavor to organize matters so that no single individual is burdened with an excessive load. Out aim is to spread the load and make it fun. Please therefore, make every effort to attend the forthcoming AGM. There are many pressing issues to be addressed this year and your input is required. Please RSVP this invitation as we want to organize refreshments for attendees. Click here for the amended Agenda for the AGM as well as the minutes of last year’s AGM Mark |
