| Yo PCC Member, Following on from the PCC AGM held earlier this year and the members meeting held last week, a number of motions were put forward. At 8:00pm tonight (after announcements) we will be holding a SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING to discuss and vote on these motions. The meeting agenda and list of motions are printed elsewhere in this chirp. Please make every effort to attend as this is one of the few occasions in the year where you, the paying member, are able to affect the way the club is run and managed. It’s all systems go for the Swartland Marathon 2010 to be held on 19th and 20th June. Entries are rolling in. Organisation is gathering steam and it promises to be a great race. Even the weather seems to playing ball with some good rains forecasted over the next week or so. Thumbs up for the Swartland Shindig at The Barn/Ed’s Diner in Riebeeck Kasteel on the Saturday night, 19 June: free entry to all Swartland paddlers and a R 30 cover charge for all others. We have recently heard that this is the final warm-up gig of the band, Amabhulu, before they play at the FIFA World Cup fan park in Cape Town next week and achieve world fame. Be there, if only to tell your friends later that you heard the band when they were still unknown. They have promised a good mix of up-beat music. Also, Ed has a big screen in Ed’s Diner so you can go there as soon as you come off the water, watch the rugby, eat burgers, buy a classic car and then stay for the Swartland Shindig. Your Swartland entry also gets you a raffle ticket for the Lucky Draw for a chance to win prizes like a brand new River Vajda from Knysna Racing, a voucher for a set of roof racks from HoldFast and lots, lots more! You can also buy further raffle tickets at R 50.00 a pop. So let's pitch, paddle and party! I would like to make an urgent appeal to any members you could assist us with getting our computer room together. We need 3 members to assist ZSC in a work party to fix a leaking roof as well as we need a donation of an “old” computer and printer (with all the necessary cables), software etc etc. In order to finally complete the access control, we need a on site computer run the access control software. Another advantage of an on-site computer room would be the ability to run, calculate and print the timetrial, leader board and ranking that same evening for members to view! Now how cuwl would that be? Club, WCCU and CSA registrations over the next few weeks while Peter Calitz is away is going to handled by myself. Please submit your forms to Peter and make your payment as normal as instructed on the PCC website BUT also send a copy of your registration details to

Motion 2 : The relationship between ZSC and PCC is to be examined to ensure that the interests of PCC are being upheld. At a pre SGM meeting, the ZSC / PCC relationship was discussed, with both Dave Waddilove and Mike Monson adressing the members present. It was resolved that the following two proposals be voted on by members at the SGM: 1. Should PCC request ZSC to appoint a maintenance manager, either on an honorary basis (if possible) or as a paid position, with the cost to be funded on a pro rata basis by PCC and IYC? 2. Should the operation of the bar and galley be outsourced, or be maintained by PCC? It was futher agreed that maintenance priorities would be discussed at the SGM, with a view to implementing a budgeted plan of action in this regard. Motion 3 : Communication to Paddlers to be properly defined as Club Bylaws. Motion 4 : Discuss ways to increase Club Membership and develop paddlers. Motion 5 : All members to agree to donate either an approximately three hour "Sweat Equity" unit of time or R1000 to the Club as part of their annual membership subscription.
