Available Training Courses (2012)

Adult and Junior Beginner Training

Gerfried Nebe runs a Beginners’ and Development Programme (see below)  from the club every Tuesday from 4pm to 5pm. This initiative is sponsored by the Club, with some help from the LOTTO, and is free of charge to anyone of all ages interested in learning to canoe. The goal here is to develop paddlers to a level of competency at which they can pass a Flat Water Proficiency Test and then be able to move on to greater things. Boats, paddles and life-jackets are supplied; just arrive in clothes that you don't mind getting wet in.Contact Gerfried on 072 420 7860.

Intermediate/Advanced (Junior and Senior) Training (ORKA Training)

Peter Cole runs daily training sessions on the water for those who wish to take their paddling to another level, working within a carefully stuctured week-long programme catering for competitive-minded intermediate to elite paddlers aiming for specific targets. The week's programme is emailed in advance to participants and includes off-the-water training; most days involve two training sessions. Peter’s pricing structure and contact details are published on the ORKA website. Pete is in charge of competitive Junior Coaching; last year he trained both the top national male and female junior crews and helped many paddlers perform well across the board in the World Marathon Championships.
