Terms and Conditions of Boat Rack Rental

1.        Subject to availability, all PCC members are entitled to rent boat racks.

2.        The procedure for renting is via the website registration process administered by the Registration Officer (email address: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

3.        Front Racks are usually not available, are allocated solely within the discretion of the Registration Officer and prior consent is needed from the Registration Officer to apply for a Front Rack.

4.        All boats stored in the boat racks are required to display the name of the owner and the appropriate rack number on the right hand side of the boat, directly in front of the rudder and above the water line, at all times. Stickers are available for collection from the Club Manager.

5.        PCC reserves the right to impound any boat which is found in a rack not paid for by the boat owner or not displaying the correct boat sticker.

6.        Should you find another boat in your rack space, please remove it and place it in the Club Section of the racks, or, if the Club Section is full, place it on the lawn.  Then contact the Registration Officer (Peter Calitz) by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it as soon as possible with any information which may help identify the owner. Should a boat be locked in your rack, again contact the Registration Officer and he will arrange for the boat to be removed for you.

7.        Any boats left on the lawn will be impounded.

8.        Impounded boats are subject to a release fee equivalent to the current annual boat rack rental rate of the space occupied (i.e. either the Front Rack rate or the Back Rack rate), or such other fee as the Committee may determine. (The 2011 Fee is R220)

9.   To arrange release of an impounded boat, either show proof of payment made to PCC (Standard Bank, Branch: 020009; Account name: Peninsula Canoe Club; Account No: 070491615) for R220 to Carol the Club Manager (email address This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ), or pay the release fee in cash directly to Carol. Carol will then release the boat. (Contact details for Carol are 0217884813 or 0729259092.) As a security measure, if she does not know you by name, she will ask to scan your tag to confirm your i.d.

10.        Impounded boats that are unclaimed or not released within 30 days may be sold with all proceeds accruing to the Club.

11.   If you donate your rack space to another member, please advise the Registration Officer by email. A new rack sticker will need to be obtained from the Club Manager and displayed on the new boat.

12.   No person may steal, borrow or in any manner tamper with or use another member’s boat or a club boat, or interfere in any way with impounded boats, without permission.  Contravention of this rule may lead to disciplinary action with a possible sanction of either a fine being imposed or membership suspended or terminated.

13. It is recommended that you lock your boats in your correct slots for additional security and so that no-one else can move them or interfere with them in any way. You are responsible for ensuring that your boat is not placed in a rack which is not rented by you.

14. If you’re not sure of your allocated rack number, you can check it on the list of registered members and its position within the racks on the boat rack diagram .

15.   Additional guidelines for the use of club boats must be adhered to.

16.   Access Tag Rules apply as per normal.

17.   Should any of your contact details change throughout the course of the year, please inform the Registration Officer by email.  You are solely liable for any actions arising from your failure to do so.

18.    Carol, the Club Manager, can be contacted at 0217884813 or 0729259092.
