| | | The Lucky Draw will take place here at 7:15 pm! | Swartland Shindig at 7pm on Sat 19th June 2010 | Preparations for the hosting of the 5th Swartland Canoe Marathon are in full swing. During the overnight stop of the Swartland Canoe Marathon (Saturday night, 19 June 2010) the Peninsula Canoe Club, who are presenting the race, will also host the inaugural Swartland Shindig. The Swartland Shindig will be held at The Barn in Riebeek Kasteel which is within walking distance of the centre of town. Unable to secure Julius Malema for the evening, the club has gone one better and engaged the band amaBhulu, who describe themselves as “a truly South African band blending boeremusiek with various indigenous styles including kwela, mbaqanga, ghoema and world styles including blues, folk, rock and trancendental balladry”. Something for everyone! Just don’t kill the band. | | amaBhulu hek dansers | | Entrance will be free for Swartland paddlers. A small cover charge will apply for family, friends and visitors. There will be a bar and food can be bought at the adjoining Ed’s Diner which sells everything from burgers to classic cars, for those who want them. The draw for Swartland Canoe Marathon lucky draw prizes will take place at 7:15pm the Swartland Shindig, so if you want a chance to win prizes which include a brand new River Vajda co-sponsored by the nice people at Knysna Racing, enter the 2010 Swartland Canoe Marathon and come to the Swartland Shindig. We kick ass!
