PCC supports a junior paddling program for younger paddlers under the age of 12.
In a safe and controlled coaching environment, children spend roughly an hour under the care of a coach. Coaching is done in a small groups, providing a fun way for children to gradually improve or develop:
- balance,
- co-ordination,
- strength,
- fitness,
- paddling skills
And all in an outdoor environment close to nature!
Coaching standards at PCC are excellent, and a high proportion of our Guppies have gone on to represent South Africa.
As a club, PCC is a relative powerhouse on the international stage and regularly produces world champions and medallists.
We provide the use of a boat, paddle and bouyancy aid (a special type of life jacket designed for paddlers) and training/coaching under the supervision of a coach.
It is important that the child is a competent swimmer i.e. should be able to swim 50m, at their own pace, with the benefit of the support of the bouyancy aid.
Training days are Mondays 4-5pm. Occasionally Thursdays are also offered, depending on Coach availability.
After a couple of introductory sessions, it is a requirement for all participants to take out Guppy Membership (unless you are going to provide and use your own private guppy boat, in which case you may take out Junior Membership) or Family Membership.
